about

I felt compelled to write this song amidst the horrifying flurry of racial injustices witnessed in 2020, keeping in mind that these injustices have been persisting nonstop since long, long before 2020. It's far past time to take a stand for justice and stand up for what's right. Black Lives Matter.

lyrics

I hear the telltale timbre of the ten plagues, a tempest trembling in a trench.
Is it the sound of sirens, or a siren's song calling us back to our tents?
Just a cardboard cutout of a criminal, cut down to size by the breeze.
All the lions in alliance with scapegoats, throwing rocks at the doves in the trees.

And we'd all like to know. Tell us what was the goal? Because we're left feeling outraged and disgusted again. Tell me how could we sink this low?

There's a pig in the sty with a stick in his eye, "oops, bodycam's busted again!".
Been bagging all those baddies with the badge today, got those numbers to misrepresent.
It's quite a fright in the night, when the bullets take flight, from a white grim-reaper out of bounds.
A huff and a puff and the door is blown down, there's no justifying eight rounds.

And we'd all like to know. Tell us what was the goal? Because we're left feeling outraged and disgusted again. Tell me how could we sink this low?

It's alright, to protest, same with civil unrest.
It's alright, it's a right, to protest, to protest, same with civil unrest.
It's alright, it's a right, to protest, to protest, same with civil unrest.
It's alright, to protest, same with civil unrest.
It's alright, to protest, same with civil unrest.

A violin and a grin and it happens again. The Skittles scatter into the street.
A pepper-spray a day keeps the peaceful at bay, it's a binary, no grey-area beat.
A call for collapse just fell in our laps, we're breaking down archaic paradigms.
Serve and protect, no balance, no checks, it's a systematic, camouflaged crime.

And we've all got it figured out. Just what it's all about. It's time to rise up, take to the streets, we've got to be heard, make it loud.
